ISSUE: Inability of Room/Room Tag selection in the Floor Plan View.

Let’s look together at what might cause you that issue.

First, It could be a hide/unhide issue.

So before anything, on the View Control Bar, click  undefined (Reveal Hidden Elements).

The Reveal Hidden Elements icon and the drawing area display a color border to indicate that you are in Reveal Hidden Element mode. All hidden elements display in color, and visible elements display in half-tone.

Check if you can find the room displayed in color, if so, that means it has been hidden. Select it, and press ‘Unhide’.It could be a hide/reveal issue.

Second, It could be a phasing issue.

If you are working on a phased project, the room/room tag could have disappeared because it is phased. Let’s see if that is your case and how to fix it.

If that’s your case, you will be facing something close to the following:

Figure 1: Room Invisible
  • Inability to select room/room is invisible. (See Figure 1)
  • When you try to place a room in the same place, it lets you do it.
  • When you try to add a room tag, it shows the warning shown in Figure 2.
Figure 2: Warning

So in this case, what i would ask you to do is:

  1. To check if you are working in proper phases.
  2. Then check the phases filter.

Third, It could be a plan region issue.

Another good thing to do is to check if there’s any plan region near the room that is invisible.

If you found one in the area, then probably it shows like the one i’m showing in Figure 3.

Figure 3: Plan Region

I have a surprise for you, all you need to do about that is to minimize the plan region boundary and limit it to the area that needs it, and boom!!! The room shows properly and you could finally tag it!

Finally, I have some other things for you to check.

  1. If the room is present in the section, and therefore, its height. Adjust it!
  2. If Revit would let you copy the room and paste it from the previous phase. (Not Guaranteed!)

I hope that helps you out, i am looking forward to trying my best to help you more!

One more thing; Since you are here, you must be working in Revit, but I think you should check out more Autodesk tools and software. They have the perfect tools to make your work easier and better.
